Community Law Project Receives Two Grants

Legal Professional Shaian Mohammadi is active in many organizations that aid minority and low-income groups. During his time as a law student, Shaian Mohammadi was involved with California Western Community Law Project (CLP), a non-profit providing free legal services to low-income communities in the greater San Diego area.

CLP recently received two grants to further support its ongoing mission. A grant of $5,000 from the Solana Beach Fund was awarded to CLP to help Solana Beach community members receive pro bono legal advice and education. The Solana Beach fund is part of the Coastal Community Foundation, which has donated over $130,000 in total grants to non-profit organizations wishing to improve the community.

CLP also received an additional grant of $10,000 from the American College of Bankruptcy Foundation. The grant is intended to support free legal aid to individuals with issues related to personal bankruptcy and consumer law. The foundation sponsors grants for legal research, individual scholarships, and funding for institutions that specifically help low-income and indigent communities.

About Shaian Mohammadi

An accomplished legal professional who is committed to serving others, Shaian Mohammadi has supported underprivileged populations throughout his whole career. His many contributions to the community include utilizing his law school training to serve as a Post-Bar Fellow with the Dream Corps, a nonprofit organization based in Oakland, California, and currently as a Paralegal helping low-income families in immigration law. Shaian Mohammadi also plans to organize a nonprofit group that offers free legal representation to low-income communities, many of whom are immigrants and women, in the near future.

Shaian Mohammadi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies from John F. Kennedy University, and completed his law degree at the California Western School of Law, where he served as the Ombudsman of the Student Bar Association, an intern with the California Innocence Project, Associate Editor of the Commentary Journal, and as the Issues Director for the Women’s Law Caucus. During his legal education, Mr. Mohammadi interned with the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office. While pursuing his law degree, Mr. Mohammadi attended Stanford University’s Summer Institute in Political Psychology and received a Certificate in Political Psychology.

Shaian Mohammadi has made a number of civic contributions, including being a former Obama Administration Appointee. In 2017, Mr. Mohammadi received the Justice Wiley W. Manuel Pro Bono Award with the State Bar of California, as well as was inducted into the California Western School of Law Pro Bono & Public Service Honors Society.

Shaian Mohammadi later organized on several political and business campaigns. He draws upon this background in his current positions as a Paralegal in Los Angeles and a Digital Marketing Strategist and entrepreneur with Dealer XT Technologies in San Jose, California.
